“My job is to transcend my own agenda in order to see the wider context and my job is to cultivate the kind of spaciousness where permission is possible. I try to create the room in which everyone is both participating and responsible.”

-Anne Bogart

As a director, I ask a question of each work I direct. With the help of my collaborators, we try to elucidate that question in all of our areas, in hopes of having the audience reflect and answer the question.

Collaboration is the most important part of my process. Directing across various mediums has allowed me to take what works about directing Greek plays and transcend those ideals into Musical Theatre, and vice versa. The result, I hope, creates a more urgent world of the play and speaks truth to the ever evolving worlds of both the theatre and outside the theater walls.

Transparency is crucial for me as a director at all parts of the process. As in most good works of art making, changes and discoveries happen over time. I hold true that all members of the creative process should have a voice in what happens, not simply the director, to serve the not only the story, but also the learning and pedagogical goals for all involved.
