Matt works as a composer, singer, and hambone player for his one-man country music opera, Swimming Upstream. The solo show aims to unpack how we deal with trauma and grief through devised country music.
No Answers: A Pandemic Art Project is released through video and streaming services. Matt served a a film director, actor and researcher for this collaborative film dealing with de-stigmatizing opiate addiction in Ohio.
Matt serves as a co-presenter at The Southeastern Theatre Convention (SETC) presenting a workshop and discussion entitled, “A Pandemic Art Project: Devising Theatre During Covid-19.” This presentation hopes to elucidate how college and universities can successfully devise during a pandemic based off Ohio State’s innovative devising methods while working with community members facing the Ohio Opioid Epidemic.
Matt’s panel “Re:covery and Re:silience: Ending Stigma for Injuries,” has been accepted to the 2021 Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) Conference. He also serves alongside faculty, broadway-veterans, educators, and otolaryngologists on this multi-disciplinary panel on finding solutions for dealing with voice injuries in musical theatre.

Matt serves as an instructor for Theatre:4821, Singing Actor, at The Ohio State University department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts.
Matt serves as collaborator on Missing Them devised by What Will The Neighbors Say Theatre Company and written by denizens of New York who have lost family and friends from Covid-19. This collaboration included international-based and broadway actors, as well as THE CITY, Brooklyn Public Library, Local Voices Network, Re-Imagine, and Interfaith Center of New York. Matt Serves a curator of “Still Going Song” with the OSU Lab Series, a virtual festival or works with original music.
Matt serves as director and collaborator of a film project that addresses with Opioid Epidemic in Ohio through community outreach and engagement.
Matt serves as instructor of record within the OSU department of theatre teaching acting, voice, movement and intro to theatre, where he brings in guest lecturer connections from broadway, film and tv.
Matt serves as Associate Conference Planner for the VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association) focus group at ATHE’s (Association for Theatre in Higher Ed.) 2021 conference in Austin, Texas. More info here.
